Do I Really Need Car Rental Insurance

Written by  Tuesday, 18 February 2014 16:53

Rental car companies are now starting to charge customers not only for damage incurred to the vehicle when in the renter’s care, but also for any loss of use of the vehicle as a result of repairing such damage. This is important as many rental insurance policies, whether included under your personal car insurance policy or as an add on service to your credit card, only cover charges in relation to ‘damage’ or ‘collision’ rather than ‘loss’.

Policies offered on Insuremyrentalcar.com’s website are Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) insurance policies which simply means that if the rental company holds you liable for the damage, theft or loss of use of the rental vehicle then the insurance company will reimburse you for the charges you incur for covered loss up to the benefit amount provided*. This means that you   can have peace of mind  should anything happen to your rental vehicle during the insured rental period.

REMEMBER – Be sure to read through the rental car company’s terms and conditions in full before taking possession of the rental vehicle. Rental car terms and conditions can vary significantly depending on the company you are using, state in which you are renting and the vehicle type, so be sure you understand exactly what you are signing up to before signing on the dotted line.

*Whether or to what extent a particular loss is covered depends on the facts and circumstances of the loss and the actual coverage of the policy as issued
